Not too much is new here. Today I got my hair plaited in the cosmetology class at NSDC. You can see a picture here. They nearly pulled my scalp off. It was more painful than last time. But the girls did very small braids so I don’t look quite as dorky as the average white person with plaits. I’m hoping to keep them in through the weekend. They’re cool for the summer because the breeze blows right through my hair.

One week from today I leave on my Mexican Odyssey Extravaganza. Here is my itinerary:

Wednesday, August 13: Depart Castries, connect in San Juan and Miami, Arrive Cancún 2pm. Then take the bus to Playa del Carmen.

Tuesday, August 19 – Monday, August 25: Loaf around Cozumel, check out the beaches, shops and snorkeling.

Saturday, August 23: Visit Ciudad de Ángeles, an orphanage administered by my friend Lauren’s parents. I’ll be helping out with their games and outing day.

Monday, August 25: Travel back to Cancún via Playa del Carmen. Check out the glitzy, over-the-top splendor it has to offer. Also be close to catch my morning flight the next day.
