11/27/03Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all. Just so that my hordes of fans don’t worry, I’m in a much better mood today than I was when I wrote yesterday. The project situation has not been resolved as yet, but I’ve been through it before and am not stressing like I was yesterday. I also did something impulsive and felt better. Still it’s a bit annoying to go back to my drawing board, thinking of other projects, and say "hmm, which organization can I drop in on NEXT to see if they need envelopes stuffed one day a week?" But I’ve come up with a better plan…. randomly… On St. Vincent and Grenada volunteers have radio shows on the local channels. Recently I was talking a bit about it with one of the St. Vincent Volunteers who was here. Coincidentally, I was also talking to a friend of a friend, named Amish, who is a DJ on a local station. I said "Hmmm". But then I thought, maybe being a full-fledged DJ isn’t my cup of tea; maybe Amish would let me on his show for a guest appearance. Stash that idea away for future reference. Today at our Thanksgiving volunteer meeting and get-together, Marion, our new APCD for St. Lucia, suggested putting together a radio show á là St. Vincent and Grenada. I said "perfect!" While I still don’t really want to be a regular speaker on the show, I can at least help set up and organize it. So some semblance of a project has appeared. The Thanksgiving was nice. But no stuffing! Instead, Sara made some AMAZING sweet potatoes using ("The Spirit of St. Lucia") Bounty Rum, instead of bourbon or brandy. She also had three pies, key lime, pumpkin with ginger whipped cream, and chess (or something like that…I had never heard of it). My dose of large groups of Americans for the next while. Sensory overload. |
